What is your primary product or service?
We offer domestic structural steel — H-Pile, Sheet Piling, Pipe Pile, Wide Flange, Channel, Plate, Angle, Steel Tube, Rail Shapes, Structural Tee, Flats, Bars as well as, Fabrication services and Industrial Coatings and Galvanizing.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
R.W. Conklin Jr. started R.W. Conklin Steel in 1983, after retiring from a 30-year career at U.S. Steel. R.W. had a deep love for his country, and he wanted his business to represent the same respect he had for American made products. Today, R.W. Conklin still operates under the same principle - we sell only 100% Melted and Manufactured Domestic Steel.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We offer 100% Melted and Manufactured Domestic Steel. This means that it is 100% American-Made. We also supply steel for all 3 steel mills in the United States, which offers us more opportunity to get the steel to your jobsite faster, at a better price, and to your specific specifications. We have an extensive stock of steel in North American inventories as well. We transport steel via truck, barge, and rail, which allows us to access even hard to reach jobsites.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
R.W. Conklin Steel operates sales offices, inventory and depots throughout the United States and Western Canada, including Vancouver, British Columbia, Calgary & Edmonton, Alberta, Cincinnati & Hamilton, Ohio, Fort Wayne & Hobart, Indiana, Chicago, Illinois, Steele Missouri, Cofield, North Carolina, Elizabeth, New Jersey, Baltimore, Maryland, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Salt Lake City, Utah, Atlanta, Georgia, Stockton & Rancho Cucamonga California, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Denver/Loveland Colorado, Seattle, Washington, Vicksburg, Mississippi, Dauphin Island, Alabama, and Falls Church, Virginia.

Our company is owned by R.W.'s wife, Phyllis Conklin and daily operations are overseen by their son, Philip Conklin.
